GRUNDTVIG Programme: “Social Competencies for the Community Participation of People With Disabilities / SocPart”

The Programme aims at the training of vulnerable social groups in order to create an appropriate framework for their social integration, their independent living, their employment and their socialization. The Programme also aims at the community sensitization in order to bring about a change in attitudes towards mental illness and combat stigma. The result of the Programme will be the creation of an informal learning plan, which will bring into contact the staff of various organizations, members of the community, public authorities and the vulnerable social groups. This Programme is a partnership between organizations from various European countries including: England, Germany, Denmark, Greece and the Czech Republic.

The role of the Society of Social Psychiatry & Mental Health in this Programme is to sensitise the community in order to support people with mental health problems, as well as to publicise and disseminate the Programme’s results.

The duration of this Programme is two years and is funded with the support of the European Commission.

LEONARDO DA VINCI Programme– “Through Theatre to Talents – 4T”.

The Programme aims at upgrading the skills of professionals who work at rehabilitation services and who use theatre activities as a means for the social integration of people with mental health problems. The aim of this Programme is the exchange of experience and good practices among the eleven partners who participate, from the following countries: Italy, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Slovenia. The aim of this Programme is the creation of a European Network of Organisations that use artistic activities for people with mental health problems, thus creating a bridge that will link the promotion of art with the promotion of health. In parallel, the Programme aims at combating the stigma attached to mental illness and cultivating a positive attitude towards people with mental health problems.

The role of the Society of Social Psychiatry and Mental Health in this Programme is to sensitise the community, as well as to publicise the good practices that relate to using alternative therapeutic techniques based on art to promote mental health.

DAPHNE III (2007-2013) Programme “Violence Against Women at Work…Let’s Talk About It! The Mental Health Impacts of Violence and Harassment Against Women at Work”.

The Society of Social Psychiatry completed the Proramme Violence Against Women at Work…Let’s Talk About It! The Mental Health Impacts of Violence and Harassment Against Women at Work”. The duration of the Programme was two years (January 2009-December 2010) and involved a partnership between eight countries. The participation of Greece has been undertaken by the Society of Social Psychiatry and Mental Health. The Programme was developed within the framework of the European Commission’s “DAPHNE III Programme (2007-2013)aiming at preventing and dealing with the violence against children, adolescents and women, as well as protecting the victims and groups at risk.
